Bullying

While children, adolescents and adults may deal with many adversities during their lives, one of the most pervasive and difficult to deal with is bullying. Bullying is often subtle and can be difficult define. No where is bullying more damaging than when it occurs in childhood, affecting children and adolescents of all ages. It reflects power inequities, which may be particularly damanging to the child's development, self esteem, capacity to function and learning.

ACATLGN has brought together a number of resources and links to help provide accessible information for schools and other professionals working with children and adolescents experiencing bullying. ACATLGN has endeavoured to bring together resources that are reliable and credible, however, we are unable to endorse all of the content of the sites that we are linked to.

We regularly add to, review and maintain this information. However, weblinks can quickly become out-of-date. Please let us know if any of the resource information is incorrect or if links don’t work. The ACATLGN resource database is constantly being updated, with new resources being entered all the time. Be sure to check back regularly to see what has been added.

National Crime Prevention Program

A booklet developed for teachers and carers discussing the impact of bullying and putting  in places strategies to address bullying.

Includes resources on teaching children assertiveness skills to cope with bullying and teasing.

Cybersafe classroom
Department of Education, Victoria

A document explaining what cyberbullying is and how this can impact on children and adolescents. Includes activities that teachers can do in the classroom.

Meta - evaluation of methods and approaches to reducing bullying in pre-schools and early primary schools in Australia

National Child Protection Clearinghouse

This clearinghouse based at the Australian Institute for Family Studies, maintains a comprehensive bibliography of bullying resources.

National Safe Schools Framework
Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations

The National Safe Schools Framework is a set of nationally agreed principles for safe and supportive school environments and includes appropriate responses that schools can adopt to address the issues of bullying, harassment, violence and child abuse and neglect.

A website set up by the University of South Australia in order to decrease bullying, harrassment and violence in schools. Contains advice and research for students, parents and teachers, with a specific focus on cyberbullying.
