About the hub

We are working closely with key representatives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to develop this resource hub.

Relevant network resources will be identified and developed in collaboration and partnership with key groups.

Network members will be invited to join as hub participants. There will be a staged implementation of hub-related activities as identified in the partnership process.

Two Aboriginal people are in the network's project team:

Yarning has occurred with people from around Australia in various teleconferences, face-to-face meetings and individual conversations.

We have links with NACCHO (National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation), SNAICC (Secretariat of National Aboriginal and Islander Child Care), LSIC (Longitudinal Study of Indigenous Children, FaHCSIA), Cooperative Research Centre for Aboriginal Health (CRCAH).

PDF document Working Well Guide: Reflections on providing suicide prevention projects in remote Aboriginal Communities in Central Australia (pdf 666kb)

A major strength of this report is that it can easily act as a ‘how to’ guide to people, organisations who want to start a program in an Aboriginal community. It effectively introduces the reader to how important the community is, and how crucial it is to only begin initiatives with community partnership, impetus and ownership.
